Meta Negotiates to Lend Surplus Computing Capacity to Anthropic

Meta is reportedly negotiating with AI startup Anthropic to lend surplus computing capacity from its data centers. Both companies are said to be engaged in these discussions, and if an agreement is reached, it could represent Meta's first major case of providing its infrastructure to an external company.

Behind this move is Meta's massive data center investment for AI development. In recent years, the company has deployed large quantities of hardware specialized for AI processing, but is believed to have generated surplus capacity beyond what is needed for training and operating its own models. Anthropic, meanwhile, is an AI startup that requires enormous computing resources to develop and operate its Claude series.
